Last week, Microsoft made two announcements in regard to its Dynamics ERP suite: they will be updating their online ERP package, and their ERP hosting business has more than doubled over this past year as they move their software into the Windows Azure services cloud. They will also be adding two new online services to the Dynamics ERP suite: Sites Service and Commerce Service, which are also built on the Azure platform.

In many ways a testament to the argument that Sage’s ERP is progressing at a good rate, earlier this month, Sage launched an expanded edition of their Peachtree accounting and financial software, this time catering to SMEs. This release is the Quantum Manufacturing Edition, and is generally available through its nationwide network of Peachtree Certified Consultants. It’s intended for manufacturers with up to 250 employees, and offers easy implementation and customization.

This month, Sage convened their fall user group meeting in Atlanta, with some 2,500-3,000 attendees. This fall meeting, dubbed “Summit,” is intended to provide end-user training and encourage adoption, and is not focused on company news (as their spring conference, Insights, often is). Still, Sage’s president of business solutions, Jodi Ueker-Rust, outlined three new directions for the company in her keynote address, to be applied in both the front-office (CRM) and back-office (ERP) offerings.

Last week, Epicor launched a program to curtail ERP implementation costs, in an effort to provide customers some value during the economic downturn. The program is based on shared benefits, with the press release detailing it as such: “Upon project completion, if the project is under budget, the savings are shared 50/50.

“Enterprise 2.0” has been a buzzword this year, as ERP and CRM product managers try to calculate the inclusion of social media streams, and now NetSuite is jumping on the Web 2.0 bandwagon. This week, the progressive ERP giant announced a partnership with InsideView that will provide a social intelligence application built on NetSuite’s SuiteCloud platform.
