Infor and Bridgelogix Deliver Productivity Lift-Off for Ferranti

September 17, 2009

Infor today announced that Ferranti Technologies, a leading supplier of power, control and avionic products to the aerospace and defense markets, has integrated InforBarcode from Bridgelogix, with Infor ERP Baan, to streamline production and enhance the efficiency of stock deliveries.

The Bridgelogix solution enhances the speed of Ferranti's goods inwards process, which had become challenging due to lack of automation. The previous system required navigation through multiple screens with mandatory fields to complete for every goods inwards transaction, severely restricting the number of items that could be booked in. Additionally, the labeling process was time consuming and prone to human error.

Ferranti chose InforBarcode from Bridgelogix because of its proven track record with other Infor customers around the world and its ability to streamline the goods receipt and automated label production processes.

By integrating with ERP Baan IVc4, the Bridgelogix solution places received goods into available inventory on the day of delivery, requiring fewer operators and better deploying staff resources.

Configurable menus allow Ferranti to incorporate existing working practices and terminology into the receiving and inventory process, enabling operators to associate new tasks to operations previously learned on the existing ERP Baan system.

Additionally, InforBarcode incorporates handheld terminals allowing operators greater flexibility to move around the shop floor whilst greatly improving accuracy and quantity of items counted.

"The Bridgelogix solution has significantly improved the receipt, storage and manufacturing allocation of raw material products," comments Ian Gowen, IT manager, Ferranti Technologies. "For instance urgent parts can now be allocated to production at the point of receipt instead of putting them into storage for picking later - avoiding the need for double handling. Ultimately we can satisfy our manufacturing requirements by completing finished products on time and with much less effort."
