Sanlorenzo Selects Infor to Simplify Production Processes and Manage Customizations of Its Own Yachts

Infor and Praxis Calcolo, a Milan-based Infor ERP VISUAL channel partner providing software, support and services, today announced the success of an important agreement with Sanlorenzo, the Italian brand for "tailor-made super-yachts".

Sanlorenzo has selected Infor ERP VISUAL to help control and manage the complexity of producing customised yachts according to customers' unique requirements. The solution will help optimise the number of solutions and options which can be provided with Sanlorenzo yachts, according to the individual needs of the shipowner.

Sanlorenzo was formed in 1958 and last year celebrated its 50th anniversary, with 500 yachts custom-built: each unique in layout, décor and options. Massimo Perotti acquired the brand in 2005 and has maintained production of a few units per year. By starting with new production lines for 28 to 35 meter plastic and fibre glass yachts, 40 meter aluminium super-yachts, and steel mega-yachts with lengths exceeding 44 meters, the specialist yacht builder required sophisticated resource planning and constant monitoring of production steps, from order to delivery.

Sanlorenzo chose ERP VISUAL for its ability to help manage complex manufacturing environments, streamline order management and workflow, and transfer two-way data with Microsoft Project for optimum cycle management.

In July 2008 Sanlorenzo started to implement ERP VISUAL and the project went live in January 2009. During the first months of this year an optimisation was tailored to support Sanlorenzo 25% growth registered in 2008. The project was completed in time and respecting budgets.
