Infratek selects IFS Applications to consolidate its Nordic operations

June 10, 2009

IFS, the global enterprise software company, has announced Infratek, a leading Nordic provider of comprehensive services to the construction, operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure, has selected IFS Applications. The company has expanded through acquisition, including that of Fortum’s service operations in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Infratek is implementing IFS Applications to consolidate and streamline its business processes in the new organization.

Infratek operates within a broad spectrum of infrastructures that includes distribution and transmission of electricity, district heating, telecom, and road and street lighting. Infratek, which is listed on the Oslo stock exchange (Oslo Børs ASA), is a spin-off of the Hafslund utilities group, which has used IFS Applications since 2000.

”Our collaboration with IFS has been good over the years, so it was natural for us to extend our utilization throughout the Infratek group now that we are consolidating our acquisitions in a comprehensive offering,” Infratek CEO Lars Bangen said. “Our aim is to introduce more efficient common processes in all our Nordic subsidiaries.”

By using IFS Applications, Hafslund has achieved significantly more efficient operations and control of its processes, enabling the group to reallocate administrative resources and invest more in customer service. Among other benefits, project management has been enhanced, and work order management and reporting for field technicians have been accelerated through the application of mobile technology.

Infratek will use IFS Applications components for service management and contracting, logistics, financial control, human resource management, and project management. Implementation, in collaboration with Ernst & Young, which has primary responsibility for project management, is expected to be completed before the end of 2009.

IFS focuses on the energy and telecom industry, and has more than 150 customers in the sector. IFS handles planning, control and financial analysis, improves the efficiency and control of everyday operations, and integrates project management and asset maintenance with contract management, workforce management, financials, logistics, and business performance management.

Customers in the telecom and grid operation sectors include NetCom (Norway), Svenska Kraftnät (Sweden), Statnett (Norway) and TenneT (The Netherlands), Vattenfall (Sweden), Hafslund (Norway), Eltel Networks (Nordic and Baltic regions), MTN (Nigeria and South Africa),and Teracom (Sweden).
