Infor Boosts Decision Making at Datron

May 26, 2009

Infor today announced Datron World Communications, a leading manufacturer of communication solutions, has implemented Infor ERP SyteLine, a dynamic enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for companies in discrete manufacturing industries. ERP SyteLine will help Datron improve its business performance by increasing productivity and reducing costs. Infor channel partner DKM worked with Infor and Datron to complete the implementation.

"Our corporate philosophy is to invest in our people, and to do that we must provide our employees with the right tools to succeed. ERP SyteLine is helping us keep that commitment," said Roger Gillespie, director of facilities and outsourcing for Datron World Communications. "One of our shipping supervisors immediately commented that he had identified a serial number discrepancy, and with the new ERP SyteLine software, he was able to get the data to act on it within a few minutes instead of the hours it would have taken our previous system to get the same information."

Datron has grown seven fold since 2004. The company's disparate legacy systems were unable to keep pace with its changing business dynamics, so Datron's leadership set a goal to implement a new ERP system within nine months. After a comprehensive review period, Datron selected ERP SyteLine over Microsoft Dynamics AX because of its manufacturing focus, flexibility and successful track record. The company assembled an implementation team comprised of members of its own staff and solution experts from Infor and DKM, an Infor channel partner. This group successfully implemented the software within the goal period, enabling the company to quickly take advantage of the solution's rich manufacturing capabilities.

ERP SyteLine helps Datron improve its business processes by delivering real-time data to users, enabling them to make timely, informed decisions. ERP SyteLine allows the company to improve its manufacturing flow by reducing inventory levels. The solutions demand and forecasting functionality helps the company reduce cycle times. The software spans the entire enterprise, which reduces error-prone steps and increases user productivity.

"Enterprise software systems bring tremendous business benefits to companies, but too frequently the systems are troublesome to deploy, leading to lengthy or failed implementations," said Kevin Piotrowski, director, discrete industry solution marketing, Infor. "Our strategic approach to developing software that is easier and faster to implement enables customers to immediately gain business value from their investment. The proven implementation teams and fine-tuned methodologies from Infor and our partners continually deliver successful go-lives to customers like Datron."
