City of Calgary Selects Infor Public Sector for Asset Management

June 17, 2009

Infor Public Sector today announced the City of Calgary has gone live with Infor EAM Enterprise Edition across five departments, Recreation, Corporate Properties & Buildings, Calgary Fire Department, Parks, and Calgary Transit, to better serve the city's more than 1 million residents. Infor EAM Enterprise Edition is being used by all five departments to track and manage usage and maintenance of Calgary's various assets, from park depots, recreation, transit, fire halls, and municipality administration facilities, to all the components within each site. The single, comprehensive database accommodates the individual maintenance strategies and associated financial reporting of each department, and allows the city to manage its assets more efficiently.

Previously, the City of Calgary had several instances of asset management software running on separate databases, which was labor intensive, time consuming, prone to errors, and did not allow for visibility across the various organizations. EAM Enterprise Edition, perfectly suited for multi-location and department organizations like the City of Calgary, enables more automated and accurate reporting of timely information for each department as well as stakeholders including budgeting, council members and managers.

"Our key success factor was a strong core project team, comprised of business users, City IT partners and Infor consultants," said Olurotimi "Roti" Akinsanmi, project manager, The City of Calgary IT. "The team's extensive product knowledge and project management experience further aided the smooth operation of the project."

"Our Infor Consultant was able to consolidate 5 separate databases into a single database expertly, and accommodated the challenges of working with 5 different business units within The City of Calgary that have varying business practices," Gloria Phillips, project sponsor, The City of Calgary, Recreation.

The City of Calgary is growing and the incredible task of maintaining both old and new infrastructure takes its toll on our equipment, machinery, fleets, and other assets. Infor EAM Enterprise Edition allows the City of Calgary to easily access information from all departments and plan for and execute maintenance strategies quickly and efficiently ensuring the city's assets meet the current and future needs of its citizens.

"Infor EAM enables the City of Calgary to deliver impressive municipal services to a growing number of constituents, while ensuring maximum return on tax dollars expended to acquire and maintain their rapidly growing city infrastructure," said Bob Benstead, vice president, strategic planning, Infor Public Sector. "Infor EAM's ability to provide asset management for several departments from one database lowers the total cost of ownership while providing a proven and reliable solution to increase visibility and transparency and improve citizen services."
