PeaceHealth Signs Multi-Suite Lawson Software Contract

April 06, 2009

ST. PAUL, Minn., Apr 06, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that PeaceHealth licensed the Lawson S3 Healthcare, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Financial Management and Lawson Human Resource Management suites. The healthcare system will use the Lawson enterprise solutions to replace disparate systems and help standardize the processes for its most critical support services, including accounting, finance, supply chain and human resources. The contract was signed during Lawson's third quarter of fiscal 2009, which ended Feb. 28, 2009.

Based in Bellevue, Wash., PeaceHealth is a not-for-profit healthcare system serving multiple rural and urban communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, PeaceHealth has provided exceptional medicine and compassionate care to Northwest communities for more than a century. It has been recognized nationally for its innovations in patient-centered care, patient safety and healthcare technology.

The Lawson system will help PeaceHealth automate core business processes and workflows across its facilities. Specifically, Lawson Supply Chain Management will give the hospital system tools to help it control supply costs. The Lawson application will also help the organization gain greater visibility into materials management and supply usage trends at individual hospitals and across the organization.

"Lawson's strong reputation in healthcare was a key factor in our decision to make this long-term investment," said Skip Kriz, chief financial officer, PeaceHealth. "The Lawson applications are a key component of our Vision 2012 Support Services Transformation initiative and will help us to deliver a set of consistent, replicable systems, technologies and processes across our organization."

The Lawson deployment will help PeaceHealth with several other core business processes, including how employees receive paychecks, how supplies are ordered and how leadership receives important financial information.

"Large, regional health systems need to streamline business processes across all support services with affordable systems to help control costs and improve productivity so they can pursue their patient care mission," said Nam Vo, vice president of global healthcare strategy for Lawson. "During tight economic times, organizations like PeaceHealth can benefit from greater operational business intelligence, which can help them better manage supplies and financial resources while maintaining high-quality patient care."

Lawson serves more than 500 healthcare industry customers representing more than 4,500 facilities, including eight of the top 10 integrated delivery networks. The company also serves managed care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, clinics, physician group practices, home healthcare, long-term care and other health services enterprises. Lawson solutions help healthcare organizations manage their business so they can focus on their patients, automate and streamline materials management for a better bottom line, and overcome the challenges of the labor shortage.
