Wackenhut Services, Inc. Live on UltiPro® for Human Capital Management and Experiencing Business Benefits

March 18, 2009

Weston, FL, March 18, 2009 — Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today that Wackenhut Services, Inc., a leading provider of security services to business, industry, and government agencies, went “live” on UltiPro in January 2009 and is now handling human resources and payroll more effectively for 5,200 employees—including hundreds of employees stationed around the world.

Expanding to more than 100 locations in the past few years, Wackenhut had outgrown the in-house application it had been using before UltiPro and sought a scalable human capital management (HCM) solution that could manage complex HR/payroll practices for a global workforce, while integrating more easily with other internal business applications. The security company turned to UltiPro and completed its deployment under budget in January 2009.

“We only needed about 60 percent of the funds that we had budgeted for the rollout of UltiPro because it went so well,” said Repps Galusha, director of information technology for Wackenhut Services, Inc. “We have many complexities with multiple unions, over 300 accrual plans, 400 benefit plans, and a global workforce requiring tax calculations for expatriates, so our successful deployment speaks volumes about Ultimate and UltiPro. Although we have been live for a matter of weeks, we are already experiencing noticeable benefits.”

Some of the benefits that larger businesses like Wackenhut report with UltiPro are the time savings and improved data accuracy associated with processing thousands of benefits changes throughout the year for employees and their employees’ families—a task that previously required hours of data entry. Prior to UltiPro, Wackenhut had difficulty transferring benefits changes to the many providers they work with. Today, UltiPro integrates with Wackenhut’s benefits providers and other internal systems, saving significant time and resulting in better data integrity, because UltiPro’s integration with third-party providers eliminated manual retyping or manipulation of information.

“Many people we employ come to our organization after we have contracted with their union, so they may already have their own health or dental plan, for instance, that we need to be able to integrate with quickly,” said Galusha. “UltiPro delivers an automatic transfer of information to these providers without duplicate data entry or spreadsheets, speeding things up for everyone.”

Using UltiPro’s self-service for employees, Wackenhut has begun reducing paper consumption throughout the business and delivering information to associates using the Web, including those who are stationed outside of the U.S.

“We have approximately 900 workers in Iraq and Afghanistan who can access their personal HR/payroll details over the Internet. Even though they are thousands of miles away, they can view their secure information at any time,” said Galusha. “We’re in the process of using more and more of UltiPro’s online tools across the organization. Ultimate’s solution has resulted in cost savings in excess of $150,000 a year in hard costs and even more in soft cost savings.”

Increasing numbers of businesses we talk to have requirements to centralize HCM for employees outside the U.S., and UltiPro is poised to help them manage their global workforce efficiently,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer for Ultimate Software. “UltiPro’s unified Web feature-set can help companies centralize an employee base spread throughout multiple states or throughout the world for maximum visibility into an organization’s human capital.”
