Plex Systems' Data Center Goes Live, Achieves Two-Hour Disaster Recovery

March 02, 2009

Plex Systems, a provider of software solutions for manufacturing enterprises, has announced its live data center with streaming data and two-hour recovery time.

With this, Plex has made its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software Plex Online (POL) available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert))

Plex Online ERP provides the manufacturing industry, including OEMs and suppliers, real-time shop-floor integration from a simple Web browser without costly and time-consuming implementation.

This means, manufacturers are able to better understand and measure process data by integrating plant floor and production with financials, shipping, quality and all other business areas.

Plex Systems now achieves aggressive recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) goals of two hours – thanks to its redundant infrastructure with replicated data offsite and the latest in-data streaming technology. This technology, officials say, is competitive with the world's leading technology for continuity and disaster recovery planning.

This new technology enables the Plex Online ERP solution to be restored within two hours of a disaster with data that is no older than 2 hours.

Plex Systems achieved these exceptional data recovery goals by live data streaming between the company's primary data center in Auburn Hills, Michigan and its data center backup in Asheville, North Carolina, officials said.

With all of the hardware, software, operating systems loaded and the data up and running, Plex Systems’ ERP now falls under the category ‘Hot Site’ and is considered one of the highest levels of disaster recovery in the industry.

“Being able to offer this capability and level of reliability to our customers is truly added value for them,” says Mark Symonds, president and CEO, Plex Systems, in a statement. “And the fact that this level of reliability and responsiveness is available on a software as a service manufacturing application differentiates Plex in the market to potential customers.”

“This approach delivers a level of responsiveness, redundancy and safety for our clients that is virtually impossible for them to match with an internal system deployment or any other SaaS application,” Symonds added.
