New York City Department of Parks and Recreation Selects Infor Public Sector

March 23, 2009

Infor Public Sector today announced the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation has selected Infor EAM Enterprise Edition to manage the department's assets. Infor EAM Enterprise Edition is a comprehensive enterprise asset management solution that will provide the department visibility into its assets and maintenance schedules and activities for the city's more than 4,000 properties including venues such as Central Park and the Billie Jean King United States National Tennis Center.

"The Department of Parks and Recreation maintains vast, complex assets, including large green spaces, lakes and world-renowned sporting venues," said Martin Brenner, director of information technology, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. "With Infor EAM Enterprise Edition, we will have enhanced insight into the condition and maintenance intervals of our assets and the inherent analytics necessary to reduce our costs and improve service for our citizens as well as the thousands of tourists that enjoy our parks daily."

Key to the selection of EAM Enterprise Edition was the solution's ease of use, ability to deploy a preventative and predictive maintenance strategy, mobile functionality and flexibility, as well as Infor's SOA technology, which will enable the department to seamlessly integrate future software with the EAM solution. Previously, the department used an inefficient system of incongruent spreadsheets to maintain its assets, which inhibited cross departmental transparency and analytics.

EAM Enterprise Edition will provide the department a holistic view of its assets, enabling it to standardize work order processes, improve evaluation of park conditions, track maintenance and performance, and coordinate the installation and development of new capital projects. Additionally, the solution integrates with the department's GIS and handheld devices, simplifying the work order process for asset maintenance crews and dispatchers.

The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation will use Infor Public Sector's software to manage more than 14 percent of the city's total land area, including 14 miles of beaches, approximately 800 athletic fields, 1,000 playgrounds, 550 tennis courts, 65 swimming pools, 1,200 monuments, and 30 recreation centers. The assets of the department are regularly used by the more than 8 million residents of New York City as well as countless tourists that visit the area annually.

"The City of New York is continually recognized for providing and maintaining world-class parks and recreational areas for its residents, and we are proud to do our part to help the department enhance the services it provides to citizens," said Bob Benstead, vice president, strategic planning, Infor Public Sector. "Infor Public Sector software enables departments and agencies across the globe, like New York Parks and Recreation, to reduce costs, improve productivity, increase operational transparency, and enhance citizen services."
