Project Centric Babcock Marine continues to grow with IFS Applications

December 22, 2008

Babcock Marine is the UK’s leading provider of engineering and support services to the Royal Navy currently carrying out approximately three-quarters of the annual maintenance and refit load required to support surface ships. Babcock Marine is also the leading submarine support provider to the Royal Navy, and earlier this year was awarded the In-Service Support contract for the Canadian government’s four Victoria class submarines.

The Babcock Group has been using IFS Applications since 2000 in their Marine, Defence Services, Rail, Networks and Infrastructure Services divisions. Babcock Marine will use IFS Applications components for finance, supply chain, manufacturing, projects, maintenance, human resources, payroll and business performance.

Aerospace & Defense (A&D) is a targeted industry vertical for IFS, helping its customers and partners to meet the future challenges of transformation through a low-risk, low total ownership cost, step-by-step capability evolution. IFS Applications’ strength in enterprise asset management (EAM), maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) and defense manufacturing is complemented by its fully integrated project tracking and product data management (PDM) capabilities. IFS Applications is a best-practice solution for fleet management, MRO and supply chain management in A&D.

IFS customers within the A&D industry include the U.S., British, and Norwegian defense organizations as well as the Eurofighter consortium. Commercial MRO shops and operators include Finnair, Bristow Helicopters, Aero-Dienst GmbH, Hawker Pacific, and Jet Turbine Services. In addition, IFS provides solutions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Lockheed Martin General Dynamics, BAE Systems, Saab, and GE Transportation.
