What features should I look for when choosing accounting software for my growing property management business (32 employees, 5 states)?

well you will get all the features in almost all software but more important thing is you should go for web based ERP accounting software. because your business is already in 5 states and in future it will grow more. so its better you choose web based accounting software.
there are lots of providers of this solution like openerp, compiere, open bravo.

There are several core features and capabilities that become important criteria in evaluating an accounting software package.

First, check to see if the product has broad function support. Does it support a range of transactions and activities including investment and asset management, debt collection, P.O. tracking, and so on?

Second, examine the products reporting and analysis capabilities. With today’s stringent regulatory guidelines in financial management, having the ability to access your critical metrics and trends is key.

Finally, see how easily the product will integrate with the software systems that you already have in place. Choose a package that will easily plug in to your existing software architecture: this will decrease deployment time.
